Once upon...

an evening boring, while I pondered bored yet pensive,
Over many a strange and intriguing page of neglected blogs.
Swiftly, my mind began thinking, thinking of creating
A place of solace, of mapping of my thoughts and creations.
So welcome dear guests, if my words entice you.

Endless Sonata

musicAfter thinking some more, and looking at your suggestions, I was surprised that the majority of the people picked Piece(s) of Me. That one was one of the ones I liked the least (^^;;). It reminds me too much of Ashlee Simpson (not that I have anything against her). Dropping the “s” didn’t help much.

So why did I pick Endless Sonata? Well, I like the way sonata sounds. I also happen to be a musician/ex-musician since I currently don’t play any instruments, but I do recall liking sonatas. And that name is also the most original. I took the Endless part from Endless Waltz (an anime movie), and Silent Sonata (from a piece of artwork I found on luvluv.net) and stuck them together. At least I think that’s where my inspiration came from. Yes it’s disappointing that I always seem to have reference points such that my ideas are never 100% original. But I believe that’s true for basically everyone else.

I also like it because, well, symbolically life is a never ending song. Since I’m not too great at singing, life is an instrumental song, and I’m playing solo. A solo instrumental song with usually three to four movements in contrasting keys, mood, and tempo is what a sonata is, I think. I hope. The sonatas I’ve played are that way; but they can be a duet, like a flute solo with piano accompaniment. The piano part will be you guys. And my sonata can have more than four movements…errr maybe. I’m not sure when one movement ends and another begins. Yay I’m so excited!

This also calls for a new theme. I’ll have to have music notes somewhere on this site. Otherwise, you wouldn’t get in the mood for music when you visit. The new layout will have either a brighter color scheme, or a pastel one. Either way, I think it will have less grey, since I like variety. The other themes will still be accessible via the Themes section in the sidebar. Hmmm maybe something like midori_hitomi (my dead Xanga account)….? I like how the blending of warm colors turned out. It has sheet music in the background. I’d like to implement a blending of colors with sheet music, and a fluid appearance somehow. The color scheme may be green, yellow, red, orange, and navy blue. Or maybe that’s too much. It could be green purple and orange/golden yellow/tanish yellow.

Do you guys like my ideas? Sorry this entire entry is about Endless Sonata. I didn’t realize I’d write that much just on a site title. But people do say a narrow blogging topic is ideal. I think. I say “I think” a lot don’t I? Also, does my site seem to run a bit slow? Sometimes it does for me. Munin also says it’s slow, but sometimes it’s not slow at all. I’m not sure what’s wrong.

Sidenote: I edited the About page, and did some editing on each of my themes.

New Home

Now that I have switched to a different host, I need to come up with a creative name for my site. Again. So far, this is what I’ve come up with:

  • Forever Dreaming
  • Lost in Thought
  • All I Need
  • Piece of Me
  • Just Being Me
  • Whisper of the Heart
  • Let Go
  • If I Could Tell You
  • I am Who I Am
  • Endless Sonata
  • Wistful Fantasy

For now, I’ll settle for Divine Reverie, but I’m not sure if it’s going to be the permanent name. Also, the tagline is “Somewhere only we can imagine”. If you have any ideas, that’d be great. I always take forever coming up with names though.

Oh yeah and thanks to Munin for hosting me.

New Layout, the Weather, and a New Song

After more than a year, this web site finally has a new layout not based on the same structure as the original layout. I call it Abstract because the images I used consist of abstract shapes. I know. Not a very creative title. I also don’t know how much I like this new layout, so for now, I’m just leaving it open as an option for you guys. Just go under themes in the sidebar, and select Abstract to view it. There are still some unfinished aspects of this layout. Most obviously, there isn’t a footer image. Also, the links at the top seem a bit plain. I also need to make an image for the submit/save button. I did test this on both Firefox 2.0 and IE 7.0, though I like it better in Firefox. There are some minor differences in appearance. So, tell me what you like and don’t like about it, and possibly something that can be improved.

Also, I’ve been thinking…well, I haven’t really been thinking. I’ve been busy with academia. I’m at a loss for things to write about in my current state. I mean, there are plenty of things to write about, yet I feel no topic are worthy of being written about at the current moment. There’s plenty in terms of anime, to write about but I’m sure many of you wouldn’t be interested in reading about anime. My state of mind is on anime and academia, neither of which are interesting topics for general viewers.

It snowed a lot on Thursday, I experienced a snow day on Friday. This is interesting because we had two snow days last year as well. Yet before then, there was more than a twenty year gap between the last snow day we’ve had. Also, on Wednesday, the tempurature dropped like 50 degrees Fahrenheit from morning to night. It was so warm during the day time that some people were wearing t-shirts. Then later there were blistering bitter cold winds that blew so strongly I could hardly breathe or keep my eyes open. The good thing about all the snow we received, aside from having a snow day, is that it covered all the ugly muddy snow that was melting previously. Now there’s a fresh blanket of pure white. I dislike snow when it gets all muddy. Also I dislike walking in a building and making and seeing puddles of muddy tracks everywhere. Yet I have the tendency to forget to sufficiently wipe my feet on the mat before entering a building so my dorm room sometimes has murky water on the tiled floor.

Also, I’ve been trying to find a new song to learn, one I can easily memorize yet is also interesting melody wise and lyric wise. I haven’t found one though. Right now I’m listening to Chi Xin Jue Dui by Li Sheng Jie. I don’t understand a small majority of the words, but it sounds nice anyways. Maybe if I saw the lyrics I’d understand more of the song. Better yet, if I had an English translation of the song, I’d understand it even more. I think the title means absolute senseless/foolish mind/heart, or something of the effect. Okay nevermind. I was completely off. I just looked up the translation, and it means Surely Infatuated. It’s a sweet song. I think I’ll try to learn it.
