Purpose
Endless Sonata (originally called Solace) was created for Sue’s personal use. The opening date, chosen out of spontaneity, is December 28th 2006. At the moment, Endless Sonata is undergoing a revolutionary change. It will be a fusion of different segments such as a gallery, graphics resource center, forum, and anime combined. This site will be mostly created for entertainment purposes, where the flow of ideas will be exchanged throughout the blog entries in the form of comments and the forum in the form of posts.
About the Name
Symbolically life is a never ending song. Since Sue not too great at singing, her life is an instrumental song, and she’s playing the solo. A sonata is a solo, instrumental song with usually three to four movements in contrasting keys, mood, and tempo. But it can also be a duet, like a flute solo with piano accompaniment. The piano part will be the visitors to this site. Without them, her solo would feel incomplete. And Sue’s sonata can have more than four movements since she’s not sure when one movement ends and another begins.
About the favicon
This favicon is pretty self-explanatory when compared to the previous one. It has the letters E and S for Endless Sonata, and a music note depicting music. The music note is green as it is one of the main colors used in the layout.
About the theme (Sonata v2.0)
This layout was created on April 28th, 2008 and has been tested on Firefox 2.0.0.14, Opera 9.10, Safari 3.1.1, Netscape 8.1, and Internet Explorer 7.0. Though the layout is also compatible with IE 7.0, there is a problem with the date alignment on the blog. Also, if viewers have experienced inconsistencies in general appearance among browsers, feel free to tell her. It is best to view this layout in 32 bit color quality and a 1280 x 800px screen resolution.
Version 2.0 of Endless Sonata uses the same colors as version 1.0, but is more fluid visually. Brushes from selene_heart of Deviant Art have been used for the flourishes, and the silhouette of the flutist was drawn by Sue in sharpie. The font used is Garamond.
Past themes
Sue wasn’t sure why she’d picked black, red, and grey as the main colors for her theme. Perhaps it’s because most of her past layout projects contain shades of blues and purples. Only after completion did she realize after feedback from others, that there was an oriental feel quite fitting with the favicon. This layout uses Trebuchet MS.
This layout uses the same structure as Classic. The only difference is the banner image, the button colors, and other colors as well. The colors orange, black, and purple are standard Halloween colors. The background is a purple sky right before night fall.
The structure for this layout differs from that of Classic and Halloween. The entry dates, category, and comments link are all on the left. Other sidebar links are also on the left. This layout uses an additional Splash module at the bottom of the page which was the original Journal page sidebar. The colors used are lavender, green, light blue, and bright blue.
Sonata v1.0 (Created March 08)
This layout contains shades of green, blue, and grey, with a tint of yellow. The banner and footer image are entirely drawn by Sue and have been modified with the help of Adobe Photoshop CS. The theme is music, which emphasizes the domain / site name. The format is very rectangular, with different rectangular buttons for each major navigation link. It impliments Jquery and lightbox.
Accessibility
The navigation system is self-explanatory for the most part. Sue created accesskeys for the main links as follows:
- 0 = Home
- 1 = Blog
- 2 = About
- 3 = Archive
- 4 = Links
- 5 = Contact
- 6 = Gallery
- 7 = Graphics
- 8 = Anime
- 9 = Forums
- - = Splash (dash)
If you have Internet Explorer, use ALT+Accesskey then hit enter. If you have Mozilla Firefox, use SHIFT+ALT+Accesskey. If you’re using Mac, CTRL+Accesskey should work.
