Plot: Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, lose parts of their bodies in an attempt to resurrect their dead mother, then vow to return their bodies to normal; on their journey, they go on many adventures.
Setting: The story mostly takes place in Amestris and Resembool around 1910. Other places include Aerugo, Creta, Drachma, Xing, and Isshuvaru (Ishbal). Here’s a nice place for the time line of events, but be aware that it contains spoilers.
Themes: the importance of life, the value of being human, the concept of human superiority and inferiority, the definition of what is human, the beauty of an imperfect life/world
