Title: Hanging Lady
Media: Pencil
Date created: Winter 2004
Description: I was under the influence of Tarot Cards, specifically The Hanged Man (XII in the major arcana). The card suggests a step backward, or distancing away from everyday concerns, as he hangs in a calm state as though meditating. She is tied in ribbon. In one arm, she holds a rose, and in both arms, she appears to be balancing two pentacles (one upside down and the other right side up). I’m unsure what message I was portraying other than balancing in a state between two extremes, and connotating a state of harmony. I think the rose and the hole and her chest was influenced by Revolutionary Girl Utena the anime series. |

Title: Edea from Final Fantasy VIII
Media: Pencil
Date created: Winter 2004
Description: I’ve owned the FFVIII game since sophomore year, but I never managed to finish the game. I’ve been on the fourth disc for quite some time, but I guess I either lost interest in the game or I felt time wasn’t well spent while I was playing it. This is a fanart of Edea Kramer. Her headress fascinates me to this day, as does her overall exquisite appearence. |

Title: Portrait
Media: Pencil
Date created: Winter 2004
Description: Yes. This was meant to be a self portrait at the time. Somehow I stopped working on it and never finished it. I guess self portraits freak me out subconsciously. |

Title: Stairs
Media: Pencil
Date created: Spring 2005
Description: There’s nothing special about this picture. It’s not particularly impressive either. I was drawing minimalistically. It is noteworthy, however, to mention that this was the only picture I drew in French class that was not turned in to the teacher, the only one I was able to keep. This is disappointing in a way, as I’d drawn many pictures for French class that I really wanted to keep. And so ends my career as a student in French class. |
