Candy Books
The girl walks in a nearby book store on the first of Summer, and her wide sparkling eyes start wandering every which way like a kid in a candy shop trying to pick out just a few candies from among so many delicious looking ones. There are arts and crafts books, dream interpretation books, classical literature, rows and rows of beautiful manga, and even shelves full of role playing books. It took quite a while before she realized what she was in there for, and with a disappointed downward glance and a slight frown, she sighs. Off to the information desk she walks, asking the lady at the desk urgently for books on Oracle databases.
The lady asks “what?”
“Oracle databases” the girl replies.
“Can you spell that? I-I mean I know how to spell Oracle…” says the lady after catching a puzzled look on the girl’s face.
“Data-bases” the girl replies enunciating the word for she had a habit of being soft-spoken.
“Oh! Databases!” the lady finally understood and leads the girl to rows of books on computers and networking.
On a top shelf to the far right, there are two very thick and thorough books on Oracle 10g and 11g. She picks up a book and skims through its dry content full of computer jargon. The girl looks frantically for a book on Oracle for Dummies…but none can be found. There is a SQL Server 2005 for Dummies, but the girl knows she needs one for Oracle. Disappointed, she picked the one on Oracle 11g and drives home.
Have you ever gone into a store wanting to buy some cool stuff only to realize what you needed to buy wasn’t very desirable? Stories are very much welcome. Oh yeah, it was the 2nd of summer aka today that this story took place, but 1st of summer sounds so much more significant to me.

Alive, Blissful, and Proud
Yes I’m still alive. I haven’t posted in quite a long time because of finals and such. Also, I’ve been working on developing a forum. This forum will encompass just about any topic you can think of. It’s almost done but to get your password, you need to get it through email. Currently my host doesn’t give permission for emailing data from my web site since I have a free account. I just bought a paid account, the most affordable one there. They still haven’t verified my transaction yet though. Once they do, I’ll show you the site and I do hope you’ll join.
On another note, I’m proud to announce that one of my poems, Spring, has been selected as one of the finalists in a national poetry contest, and it has also been awarded the Editor’s Choice Award along with just 33 other poets. I was surprised because I just picked a random poem to submit that met the length requirement (of 20 lines or less) and submitted thinking nothing of it. It was read by a professional reader and it will be recorded professionally as a special part of a new CD poetry collection- The Sound of Poetry. Also, it will be published in a book.
What else have I been up to? Well, I’m currently watching Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. I’m on episode 30 now. I stopped and now I’m reading the manga. I’m on chapter 4. I’m planning on reading all the manga before finishing the anime so I can compare the two and have something to discuss in my forum. I watched Cardcaptor Sakura right before that (all 70 episodes plus the two movies). I hope to get some interesting discussions going with that as well.
For now, here’s a riddle called “Make Up Your Mind” for you to think about, and maybe comment about if you’re feeling up to it:
Whoever makes it, tells it not.
Whoever takes it, knows it not.
And whoever knows it wants it not.
Hint: Don’t think too hard on this one.

Tag
I found this game of tag on Kaylee’s blog, and thought I might try it out. I loved playing tag as a kid and I hope you enjoy playing this game of tag with me.
The Rules
- Link to your tagger and post these rules.
- Share 7 facts about yourself: some random, some weird.
- Tag 7 people at the end of your post and list their names and link to them.
- Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment at their blog.
My Facts
- I’ve played four instruments in my life in this order: piano, violin, recorder, flute.
- I sleep in a dorm on a lofted bed that’s so close to the ceiling you can’t sit up right.
- I’m a sophomore in college and I’ve been to two colleges: University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and Bradley University.
- I love skiing, and I both love and fear the speed of going down steep or semi-steep hills.
- I love art and have been drawing since the age of three and making origami at the age of 4.
- I’m 100% Chinese and was born in Wuhan, China. I came to the U.S. when I was four and a half.
- I love watching anime and consider myself a great fan of many different series but I only own one DVD, two manga, one calendar, and two posters.
You’re It!
Here goes nothing: (1) Hera, (2) Phuc, (3) Angela, (4) Hydora, (5) Xuan, (6) Munin… and the seventh person is YOU unless you’ve already been tagged.
