Once upon...

an evening boring, while I pondered bored yet pensive,
Over many a strange and intriguing page of neglected blogs.
Swiftly, my mind began thinking, thinking of creating
A place of solace, of mapping of my thoughts and creations.
So welcome dear guests, if my words entice you.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle

After watching all 52 episodes of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, the OVA and the movie, and reading all 176 chapters of the manga, I was inspired to write a poem about Tsubasa. You could say I’m a bit obsessed, but I have a reason to be obsessed. This story is amazing for sure and contains adventure, romance, comedy and science fiction. The plot is convoluted, but you’ll only realize this in the manga. The series is still ongoing though. I bet even people who aren’t anime fans will like it. CLAMP fans will love it as it contains characters from all sorts of CLAMP anime and manga. There are different worlds and dimensions. I won’t tell you more and leave the rest to your choosing. You can find the manga at onemanga.com, and the anime at megavideo.com and guba.com. This poem is written in iambic pentameter except for one line which contains 11 syllables because I couldn’t figure out how to make ten. There are four different sections to this poem. Enjoy!

Edit: I finished creating my forum. You can visit it at endless-sonata.net/forum.

A sandy dessert there lay Clow Country
Whose princess everybody loved dearly.
Her palace was pretty extravagant,
And the people treat her kindly, gently.

Nearby the palace there lay a small house,
Whose owner, a young archaeologist.
His distant past, he remembers little.
Not even he remembers his birth date.

In his recent past his father took him
To the palace where the princess resides.
The boy took one shy look at the princess,
And her gentle smile warmed his empty soul.

From that day fourth and the years there after,
The boy and the princess grew together.
On the princess’ birthday she asked him,
Of his, and gave him her birth date to share.

Their bonds grew strong, and the boy learned to love.
And the princess loved him dearly as well.
The princess’ priest understood their bond,
And he knew of their future destiny.

Then one day the princess wanted to tell
The young lad of her true fondness for him.
Yet it was late, and the bell had just rung,
So she promised to tell him the next day.

Darkness fell, yet the princess still pondered,
Could not stop thinking of her one true love.
In his little home, the boy too wondered,
If she loved him as much as he did her.

Suddenly a bright light came from the ruins.
Then some sound beckoned the princess forward.
She floated off her balcony and flew,
Towards the ruins her body did take her.

Her eyes in a trance, her body grew numb.
She stood on a strange symbol in the ruins,
Between two massive batwing like sculptures.
A hole grew and expanded below her.

Gorgeously glowing wings sprout from her back.
A mysterious force pulls her inward.
Men from another dimension appear,
With swords and shields ready for attacking.

The boy grabs her just in time, and saves her.
Her eyes remain closed, her body still numb.
But her feathers scatter, float towards the sky,
Shining like stars, they slowly disappear.

Just as the men are about to attack,
The king and his priest arrive just in time.
The priest starts to reads the princess’ mind.
He learns of her most recent happenings.

The king fights the men as the priest explained,
The princess’ soul and memories were
In those feathers that flew far far away,
To dimensions, worlds apart from their own.

To the dimensional witch you must go,
Exclaims the priest to the confused young lad.
You must ask her to rescue the princess.
With that the priest chanted some magic spells.

In the ancient land of Japan Country,
At the palace lived a magic princess.
She had a ninja, the strongest of all.
His power was great but he was reckless.

His job was to protect the country yet,
He killed enemies viciously needless.
She banished him from Japan with magic,
Far away to the dimensional witch.

She wanted to teach him what true strength was.
Before sending him, though, she cast a spell.
Each time he kills someone his strength weakens.
With that he left unobediently.

At Celes there lived a magician,
Who cast a sleeping spell on his fair king.
Though the reason is yet unknown, he leaves.
He must run away now, to different worlds.

At modern day Japan, there lived a witch,
The Dimensional Witch is what she’s called.
She has the power to travel through time,
Also to different dimensions and worlds.

There the young lad, ninja, and magician
Were destined to meet for different reasons.
The boy asks the witch, “Please save my princess.
What must I do to obtain her feathers?”

“You must travel to different dimensions
Some will be dangerous, others will not.
Gather her feathers and she should be fine.
But there will be a heavy price to pay.”

“Now you, the ninja, what do you wish for?”
“I wish to return to my country ‘course.”
“And you too, magician, what is your wish?”
“To run away from my country of course.”

“All your wishes are similar to me.
Each must travel through different dimensions.
Though the price is large, together you’ll make it.
You must each give your most precious item.”

“For you, the magician, you must give me,
That exquisite, large tattoo on your back.
For you, ninja, you must give me your sword.
And you, boy, your relationship with her.”

All were hesitant, yet were determined.
Their desires were strong, there minds were made.
Together they will travel through hardships.
And so this begins their epic journey.

Halloween

It crept upon a foreboding evening,
The darkness engulfed all the cloudy sky.
A black cat hisses, a witch is flying,
On a worn down broom, towards the cloudy sky.

Outside, the ghosts are floating way up high.
The moon is full, a werewolf is howling.
Inside children are eating pumpkin pie.
Around the tombstones zombies are stomping.

From coffins, vampires are ‘wakening,
To suck the blood of another victim.
Bats flutter around a cave’s opening.
By the haunted houses, all is solemn.

My doorbell rings, and I dare go answer.
For there’s yet another trick-or-treater.

Thanksgiving

The warmth from summer fades to chill autumn air,
The northern winds blow fiercely,
Yet trees remain adamant.
Leaves loose their colors; they blanket the ground.
People shuffle through the leaves.
They laugh and dance in celebration.
It’s harvest day! It’s turkey day!
Thanksgiving has come again!

I should be thinking of all things I’m thankful for,
I realize it’s late–this day has almost passed and gone.
This poem–if you can call it that–is quickly loosing rhythm.
Perhaps I’m thankful for this beautiful day,
This day of silence, this day alone.
It has been quite unusual, yet peaceful too.

I’m thankful for unconditional love from my parents,
I’m thankful for amazing blue sky days,
I’m thankful for hyperactive squirrels,
I’m thankful for music, the arts, and…
The power of blogs, the amazing feeling
Knowing that even nonsensical ramblings such as this
Can be considered a poem.

Oh yeah…and I’m thankful for you, enduring patient reader
For taking the time to read this, and perhaps other entries too!
