Flower Rolls
![]()
Flower rolls are one of my favorite doughy Chinese foods. They are irresistibly fluffy and yummy. Making them isn’t too hard either. Here’s the recipe for making enough flower rolls for a family meal.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of Flour
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- A bundle of onion sprouts
- 1 tsp yeast
- Salt
- Vegetable Oil
Other Needed Materials
- Steam Cooker
- Rolling Pin
- Knife
- Cutting Board
- Bread Cooker
- Plates
- Brush for spreading the oil
Directions
- Pour the flour into the bread cooker with water and yeast.
- Set the bread cooker to “Dough”
- Wait for dough to mix and raise; then take it out of the bread cooker and onto a plate
- Sprinkle some flour onto the cutting board.
- Cut the dough into four long sections on the cutting board using a knife.
- Take three sections and put them onto a plate, leaving one section on the board.
- Using the rolling pin, flatten the dough that’s on the cutting board.
- Brush oil onto the flattened dough.
- Sprinkle some salt onto the flattened dough and spread it evenly with your hands.
- Cut the onion sprouts into small pieces and sprinkle some onto the flattened dough.
- Pick up one end of the long flat piece of dough and roll it into an even skinnier tubular shape.
- Cut the tube into shorter chunks.
- Repeat steps 7 through 12 for the other chunks of dough
- Brush some oil onto each layer of the steam cooker and put water on the bottom of the steam cooker
- Put the small chunks of rolls into the steam cooker. If not all of them fit all at once, cook the left-overs separately.
- Cook on high for 20 minutes.
- Serve them in plates. Enjoy!
